SILVERKNOWES, EDINBURGH
PROJECT
Demolition of existing rear conservatory.
Construction of new extension and internal alterations.

DESCRIPTION
Original detached bungalow had previously been extended and altered with the addition of a PVC-u conservatory, accessed through kitchen. Conservatory was demolished and the side and rear of the property were extensively upgraded and altered to create a large, spacious open plan family, dining and kitchen room. The existing external structural walls were removed and new enlarged extension built on side boundary with paved patio and steps to lower garden level. Full height, floor to ceiling glazing openings and sliding door system were designed, creating a very bright living space with floods of natural daylight. Flat plateau style roof windows were positioned above zoned areas and sun tunnels added over the existing pitched roof areas to provide additional natural daylight above the new kitchen area. The room was further complimented with the installation of a wood burning stove. The principal living space of the house was completely transformed with the new addition, creating a contemporary, aesthetically pleasing family living space.
